Safari Holidays, Camps and Lodges in Rwanda

Rwanda is a small landlocked mountainous country bordered by Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is often called 'the land of a thousand hills' due to its mountainous terrain and temperate year-round climate. Most of Rwanda is 3,000 ft above sea level, with much of the central plateau being higher than 4,700 ft. Because of the high altitude of the country, Rwanda has a pleasant tropical highland climate.

Despite being the most densely populated country in Africa, Rwanda offers a number of unique attractions to visitors. The Parc National des Volcans in the Virgunga is the last sanctuary to the mountain gorillas to which Dian Fossey dedicated her life. The Nyunggwe Forest is known for its large  troups of colobus monkeys and many types of orchids.

In the northwest there are the volcanic Virunga Mountains and the highest peak, Mount Karisimbi (14,870 ft) is snowcapped.

But there is still more to Rwanda; friendly people, breathtaking scenery, volcanic lakes and a large variety of birdlife.
